International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF)

Since 1950, Society for Science & the Public has provided a stage for the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF), the world's premier STEM competition. Each year, millions of the best and brightest students from around the globe compete in science fairs and vie for the 1,800 spots and $5 million in prizes at the ISEF. The Mu Alpha Theta Award is given to the most challenging, thorough, and creative investigation of a problem involving mathematics accessible to high school students. Components of the investigation often include mathematical proof, mathematical modeling, statistical analysis, visualization, simulation, and approximation. Drs. AreteLabs Math Madness

AreteLabs is running its signature team-based event, Math Madness, for the 9th straight year! Here are the key details: * 100% Online + Team-based + Live Scoring = Thrilling! * Offered at 3 levels: ES (3-5th), MS (6-8th), and HS (9-12th) * 4 weeks of scrimmaging with teams from around the U.S. followed by a bracket tournament * One 30 minute match per week playable any day/time, featuring individual and collaborative play * Expertly-crafted content - excellent prep for AMC, Mathcounts, MOEMS, etc. * Solutions post immediately after each match making for a unique teaching/learning opportunity The Math Madness event starts the second week of October with registration remaining open until the first week of November. AreteLabs will re-run the event in the spring of 2022, starting in mid-February and running through April. Registration for that will open in December. In addition, AreteLabs offers a Mini-Madness event from mid-February through March where teams can compete informally in league scrimmaging.

The Core Competition Experience:

MathWorks Math Modeling (M3) Challenge

MathWorks Math Modeling (M3) Challenge is an Internet-based applied math competition for high school juniors and seniors known for inspiring them to pursue STEM majors and careers. Working in teams of three to five, participants solve an open-ended, math-modeling problem focused on a realistic issue – in 14 hours. Extra credit awards are available to teams that employ technical computing/code in their solutions. The contest, organized by Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) and sponsored by leading software developer MathWorks, is free and open to all U.S. students and will award top teams this year with $100,000 in scholarships toward the pursuit of higher education. M3 Challenge has given more than $1.75 million in scholarships to date and has been listed as an approved contest by the National Association of Secondary School Principals since 2010. Challenge weekend (Friday through Monday) dates are March 3 through March 6th, 2023. ARML Power Contest

The American Regions Mathematics League (ARML) offers a two-test Power Contest to be worked on by a team at the students' high school. The Power Contest provides a group problem solving situation similar to the power question found at the annual ARML competition.
